Curriculum

The curriculum I design and follow is based on national standards, with a focus on providing a balanced education that combines academic rigor and character development. I aim to implement a student-centered curriculum that emphasizes both cognitive and affective learning, ensuring that students not only gain knowledge but also develop critical life skills. My approach integrates both content knowledge and real-world applications, preparing students for future challenges in an increasingly interconnected world.

In the case of my English major, the curriculum aims to develop proficiency in the four essential language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. This curriculum is aligned with the Profil Pelajar Pancasila, ensuring that students are not only academically capable but also socially responsible and globally aware. The curriculum emphasizes inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary connections, allowing students to engage deeply with topics and ideas from various perspectives.

Key features of the curriculum:

Core Subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
Specialized Subjects: Advanced English, focusing on narrative, exposition, and discussion text types.
Character Education: Integrated throughout all subjects to foster values such as independence, teamwork, and creativity.

Teaching Plan related to my major

As an English major, my teaching plan is designed to develop students' ability to communicate fluently in English across various contexts. The plan includes both receptive and productive skills, which will be taught through various activities and assessments. These skills will be reinforced through project-based learning, collaborative discussions, and real-world applications of language use.

The teaching plan is structured around the following key components:

Reading:
- Focus on narrative, expository, and argumentative texts.
- Activities include reading comprehension exercises, analysis of text structure, and vocabulary development.
- Emphasis on interpreting both explicit and implicit meanings within texts.
Writing:
- Teach students to compose structured texts (narratives, essays, reports) with clear arguments and well-organized ideas.
- Writing assignments will include a mix of creative and academic writing, with an emphasis on coherence and accuracy.
Speaking:
- Encourage all students to ask questions as a way to practice their English and engage in meaningful conversations.
- By asking questions, students can improve their fluency, build confidence, and better understand the material.
- I also speak slowly to ensure that everyone, regardless of their fluency level, can follow and understand the content. This approach helps accommodate students who may not yet be fluent in English.
Listening:
- Practice listening to various spoken texts (e.g., discussions, lectures, podcasts) to improve comprehension.
- Activities include summarizing, note-taking, and discussing the content.
Cultural Integration:
- Incorporating global and local cultural references to ensure students gain a broader understanding of the world.
- Discussions around cultural topics, including global issues, and regional practices in language use.
